The Federation
Right from it’s inception in 1962, Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS) aimed to serve and represent UK and Eire’s vast Muslim student body, with over 90,000 Muslims Students in 600 colleges and 150 Universities, all united under 1 platform. FOSIS seeks to bring these students together, to share experiences and to offer help and advice where appropriate, uniting Muslim Students to positively contribute to both Muslims and non-Muslims communities alike.
FOSIS Ireland Vision
To Produce the Revivers of Islam and the Society
Why do we (Muslim Students) work for Islamic Societies and FOSIS etc? What is the point? Is it just to have prayer rooms and halal food? Shouldn't there be something more? Shouldn't we have loftier ambitions? FOSIS believes we should. We believe that producing those who will renew the faith improve our world as a whole is our calling.
Our Core values
- Islam as a way of life: Applicatation of Islam in every aspect of lives
- Ummah: Unify on a common purpose
- Ikhlas: Sincerity in work
- Ihsan: Strive for perfection in work
- Shoorah: Consultation when deciding
What are the values that you would find in a renewer in any era? FOSIS believes that the above values are intrinsic to any reviver and should be the values of our great federation. The idea of Ummah and unity is central in this.
Our Mission
- Learning Leadership through Experience
- Unifying Islamic Societies in purpose and work
- Preserving our rights and promoting our values
- Being a resource that enables the realization of projects either student related or for Muslims as a whole
Islamic Societies are a microcosm of society. The things a revivermust do (unify, promote what is good, and prevent harm) are embodiedin the work of FOSIS, but at a smaller scale, i.e. at the universitylevel. After graduating from FOSIS, the revivers will be better ableto understand and deal with the problems that face our Ummah.
